Give-outs and Events

Backpacks & School Supplies
We collect backpacks and school supplies over the summer, then pack and distribute them in August, in time for the start of the new school year.

Books
Books are given out whenever we are able to get them. Gently used books, for children and adults, are given out throughout the year, and new books are included in our year-end children’s holiday party.

Diapers
We include diapers for moms of very young children in our weekly Food Pantry distributions whenever we have a supply.

Toys
We collect new toys for children ages 0 to 12 and create large bags of age specific toys for our clients, to be given out the week before Christmas. This typically includes a large children’s party.

Showers of Hope and Suds & Duds
Showers of HOPE is a collaboration with Shiloh Baptist Church to provide mobile showers to members of the Westchester community who do not have access to shower facilities.
Suds & Duds is an offshoot of Showers of HOPE and brings laundry detergent and free laundromat services to members of the New Rochelle community who need them.

Immunizations
Providing flu shots at HOPE for clients who are unable to get them free of charge, in partnership with Montefiore Hospital..
HOPE partnered with Montefiore Hospital to run a COVID-19 vaccination site in order to get vaccinations to our hard to reach community.

Coats, Hats & Gloves
Coats, hats and gloves are collected and handed out around the end of year holidays, in preparation for the cold months ahead. Any remaining items are held for clients who need these items during the winter months.

Shoes
Throughout the year we collect and distribute gently used and cleaned shoes and sandals, and new socks (often donated by Bombas).

Homework Help
This after school program provides assistance with homework Mondays to Thursdays from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
Sponsored by a grant from the City of New Rochelle, in a beautiful space provided by the building manager at the apartment buildings at Flowers Park, students from IONA college and New Rochelle High School help New Rochelle school children with their homework needs in a fun environment.

Fun Fridays
After a long week of lessons and homework, this program treats school age children in New Rochelle with some fun and games after school on Friday. from 3:30 pm to 6:00pm in a beautiful space provided by the building manager at the apartment buildings at Flowers Park.

Summer S.T.E.A.M Program
During the summer HOPE provided the opportunity for elementary-aged children to participate in a fun STEAM program which included science experiments, plant education, and a music program of instrument instruction, singing, and a final on stage performance.
HOPE’S STEAM Summer Program took a field trip to Ward Acres Park, which included an educational hike, a watershed stewardship program with a series of hands-on experiences and a walkthrough of the Ward Acres Community Garden. HOPE Community Services
The STEAM Summer Program at Parkside Place was made possible through the City’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding.

Summer Camp
A wonderful opportunity for children aged 5 to 11 in our community to experience the joys of a camp during the weeks of summer break.
Arts and crafts, sports, games, water fun, magic show, carnival, team scavenger hunt and more.
Celebration Events

Mothers Day
A celebration of our mothers, who are pampered and spoiled with Spa treatments and gifts.

Fathers Day
Fathers from all over Westchester come together to work with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to make sure that “no child sleeps on the floor in our town”.

Veterans Day
HOPE honors local veterans in our community who work to help our neighbors in need.

Thanksgiving
HOPE gives out turkeys in our Food Pantry, provides take home cooked meals to those who need it, and serves a hearty Thanksgiving meal in our Soup Kitchen complete with all the fixin’s.

Holiday Party
Large bags of new toys and games, puzzles and books are given out at our year-end holiday party for kids.
A delicious holiday meal is served in our Soup Kitchen.
Summer Camp
Annual Gala
Our annual gala is our main fundraiser of the year. It is our opportunity to show our appreciation for the “village” of people who support us throughout the year, and help us succeed in our mission. We get together in a warm atmosphere of community and friendship, to enjoy good food, good wine, and good company.
