Volunteer

We have recruited over 300 volunteers to supplement our small paid staff of mostly part-time employees, making us one of New Rochelle’s largest volunteer efforts.

Volunteer & Fundraising Opportunities

 

If you wish to take advantage of any of these volunteer opportunities, you are more than welcome!

We ask that you please call (914) 636-4010 to schedule a date for a group of 3 to 8. Groups should not exceed 8 volunteers including chaperones of 12 and 13 year old students. Individual volunteers need not e-mail first.

Soup Kitchen

Dinner is served every week day (Monday through Friday). Volunteers generally are needed between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on those days. Volunteers prepare to-go dinners, serve them to the clients, and assist in clean up after dinner.

The MINIMUM VOLUNTEER AGE is 12, and please note that 12 and 13 year old students MUST HAVE an adult with them.

Pantry

Pantry bags are distributed every other Wednesday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 noon and 2pm to 4pm at our 50 Washington Ave location. On opposite Wednesdays pantry bags are distributed at our Mobile Pantry at 570 5th Ave from 2pm to 4pm. Volunteers are needed for these distributions and also to prepare for them.

Volunteers are needed every Monday from 9am to 12pm to pack the pantry bags and to unload and sort non-perishable food items that are delivered to HOPE.

Volunteers are needed every Tuesday from 9am to 12pm to unload the delivery from Feeding Westchester.

Volunteers are needed Wednesdays when the distribution is at 50 Washington Ave from 8:30am to 12:30pm and 1:30 to 4:15pm to set up, distribute, and clean up on pantry days.

Volunteers are needed Wednesdays when the distribution is at 570 5th Ave from 10am to 12pm to pack vans at HOPE to drive over for the mobile pantry and from 1:30pm to 4:15pm to set up, distribute, and clean up at 570 5th Ave.

Food Drives

HOPE encourages groups and individuals to conduct food drives in their neighborhoods.
We currently are in need of Tuna, Cereal, Peanut Butter and Meal-in-a-Can.
